Dad and His Girls {Three Forks, MT Family Photographer}

This family session was mainly Brett's doing.  A few months ago he contacted me about the Mother's day special, and purchased a gift certificate for his lovely wife.  What a thoughtful guy.  They had just had another baby girl, and he knew that a summer photo session would be the perfect gift for Rachel.

A couple years ago I shot some baby portraits of Miss Ava as well as a couple quick family portraits in the snow.  Returning clients are the best, and I am always so honored to document a changing and growing family.  Well, Ava was a cutie pie then and she is still so dang cute.  I was dying to meet her sister, and photograph her family in the sun this time.  Savanna, is such a happy, laid back baby.  She seriously didn't fuss at all during the photos.

I didn't realize until looking at this first photo below how much Ava resembles her mom, and Savanna resembles her dad.  They are such lucky girls to have such wonderful and loving parents, and I had a blast getting to see how much Ava had grown, and to meet little miss Savanna.

An Intimate Affair {Miles City, MT Wedding Photographer}

I can not believe that my crazy wedding season is over. (Still one more wedding after this one to share on the blog)  I still have two more weddings to shoot this year, but they are fairly spaced out and the first of the two isn't for a few weeks.

I feel like I learned so much over this summer about what I can and can't take on.  I didn't quite overdo it, and now I feel like I better understand my limits.  I never want to take on so many weddings that my clients, other shoots, post production, and family suffers.  Out of those four things, my poor hubby probably got the short end of the stick, but he was so supportive this summer, and helped me realize on numerous occasions that I was living my dream.  Something, that in all the craziness of shooting and editing is easy to forget.  I am so blessed to be able to do what I love, and I NEVER feel that sense of dread when I have to go to work like I have in the past with other jobs.  I know that what I was put on this earth to do is capture memories and fleeting moments.  I kind of like to think of myself as a keeper of memories. Whether it is for a couple or family I only met a short time ago, or for my own family, or for myself.

Ok....that got super cheesy in a real hurry.

Onto the wedding.  I loved being a part of Blake and Tami's day.  So much about it was so intimate.  As Tami was putting her dress on with her two bridesmaids, there wasn't any chaos or craziness that can sometimes come with a room full of women.  Just the three of them enjoying the moment.  As we did the before photos, (they did not see each other before the wedding) both Tami and Blake were able to spend some down time with their families.   As Tami walked down the isle, she beamed at Blake seemingly not nervous although, I am sure that wasn't the case.  At the reception Blake's grandmother gave a hear felt toast that was such a special part of their day, and it was one of my favorites toasts of the year.   They had such a wonderful day full of love and support, and I couldn't have been happier for them.

 The above and below photos are favorites for sure!

Baby J {Three Forks, MT Family Photographer}

You might remember Jemma from about 6 months ago when I posted some of her newborn photos.  Well miss Jemma is growing fast, and she couldn't be cuter.  Even if she wasn't my good friend's daughter, I'd still think she was one of the cutest babies EVER.  She is such a doll, and she is at such a fun age.

It is still crazy to me that Jami is a mom, but motherhood suites her, and Jemma is one lucky girl.  Her parents adore her, and how could you not???  Look at those beautiful blue eyes.  Jemma is also turning into a blondie much to my excitement!

 What a beautiful family!

 I just couldn't edit the drool out of the photo below...drool only ever looks cute on babies!  I love this photo.

Pretty in Pink...and in anything {Miles City, MT Photographer}

Meet the Gierke girls and their mom Tracey.  You might recognize Ashten from her engagement shoot a couple months ago.  I had so much positive feedback from that shoot, and it probably has less to do with me as a photographer, and more to do with her.  She is gorgeous, very photogenic, and wonderfully stylish.  Well...it is obvious to see that her mom and sisters are just that as well.

I love photographing sisters.  Probably because I have such a close relationship with my own sister.  I just recently came across this quote, and it seems fitting for this post.
 "A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double."  ~Toni Morrison

This stands very true for Carley and myself.  We are so much the same in so many ways, but we are also complete opposites in others.  I am a creative type, Car is a bit of a nerd.  Carley is more of an extrovert, where as I can be a bit timid. She is the more athletic one, whereas I was a cheerleader and golfer.  It always amazes me that this is the case, but I suspect it is our differences that make us best friends.  We are different pieces of the same puzzle.

I assume it is similar with these girls.  Even in just the short time I spent with them, I could see how alike they are, but they are all uniquely different as well.

I could continue rambling....but it is Friday night and my poor puppy has patiently been waiting for some attention all day, I have a wedding tomorrow to prep for, and I could use a little down time.  Enjoy your sneak peek girls.  I had a blast shooting you!

 I love the one below.  Definitely a favorite!

 Such pretty girls...makes my job easy :)

These would all make wonderful Christmas card photos...Yes I know it is only September, but it is a good idea to book your session now, before the snow falls!
